Fonts In Use

Fonts & design resources league · enshrined Aug 28, 2026

An independent archive of typography in the wild — 34,000 samples and counting, every one identified, credited and filed. The reference desk for anyone who has ever asked "what typeface is that?"

The citation

The homepage is a wall of found typography: ice-cream branding next to protest posters next to phone interfaces, each thumbnail captioned with the typefaces it uses, set in those typefaces. That one decision — labels in the letters they describe — turns a database listing into an endless working sample book, and makes every scroll a lesson.

The design’s job is to disappear in exactly the right way. White ground, black text, a grid that holds five samples across without crowding, filters for topic, format and typeface sitting quietly above the flood. Fifteen years of contributions stay findable because the structure never chased a trend. It is the record book of working typography, and record books belong on walls.

The colorway

Five swatches pulled straight from the screenshot. Each pennant leads to its colorway.

The mark, for Fonts In Use

Fly it on Fonts In Use if you like — it points visitors back to this plaque. The banner stays up either way.
