Inductee No. 001 First ballot

iA

SaaS league · enshrined Aug 28, 2026

The studio behind iA Writer sells three focused writing tools with the same discipline it sells: one screen per product, one verb per button, and type doing all the talking. Twenty years of restraint, still undefeated.

The citation

Most software homepages argue. This one demonstrates. Each product gets a full-screen panel — Writer under a floating cursor mid-sentence, Presenter behind “Good design is æsthetic” in white on violet, Notebook as a single photographed object with its award laurels lined up like season stats — and every panel runs the same play: product name, four-word promise, one button. Nothing competes with anything.

What earns the induction is the consistency of conviction. The keyboard keys tumbling around the hero, the black band that flips the palette for Presenter, the blog cards set in the same interface type the apps ship with — it is one typographic system carrying an entire company, kept tight enough that a monochrome page with one violet slide reads as a complete identity. The scoreboard for focused-writing software still shows this team on top.

The colorway

Five swatches pulled straight from the screenshot. Each pennant leads to its colorway.

The mark, for iA

Fly it on iA if you like — it points visitors back to this plaque. The banner stays up either way.
